With Benjamin Clementine about to showcase his new album, Getintothis’ Sinéad Nunes gets ready to head to Manchester
Mercury Prize winning Benjamin Clementine has been on “must-see” list for quite a while now.
Poet, composer, musician and performer, Clementine has a unique and unclassifiable sound.
He has had critics excited since his rise to fame in 2015, thanks to his confident piano solos, assertive tone, warm timbre and unmistakable enunciation.
Clementine’s music is unwaveringly sophisticated, honest and, despite its classically refined beauty, painstakingly raw.
His lyricism can be witty or melancholy, employing rhyming verse or intense monologue through his tenor voice.
He released his second album, I Tell a Fly last year, featuring more experimental and daring musical choices than his first album At Least for Now.
