This Is The Kit are set to return to Liverpool and Getintothis’ Rick Leach has all the details.
This Is The Kit, the sharp and sparkling folk band that mesmerised us last time they played in Liverpool, are coming back for a date in early 2018.
It’s a return fixture in many ways as they will treat us to their quite unique brand of folk once again in the lovely and intimate setting of Leaf on Bold Street.
This Is The Kit have recently released Moonshine Freeze, their fourth album and their first for Rough Trade, garnering critical acclaim from all quarters.
Keep up to date with all live happenings with Getintothis’ Gig Guides
Moonshine Freeze sees the band reunited with long-time PJ Harvey collaborator John Parrish, who also worked on their 2008 debut, Krule Bol.
While the new album is firmed rooted in Kate Stables of This Is The Kit’s enduring love of English folk music, there are also clear nods to music from the wider world including non-European music collated by ethnomusicologist Hugh Tracey in the 1950’s as well as (incredibly) echoes of Nirvana on the track, Dundee Door in Dorset.
This Is The Kit have a capacity not only to make beautiful music but to surprise and delight as well and quite frankly, this chance to see them live at Leaf is really one you shouldn’t miss out on.
- This Is The Kit play Leaf on January 14 2018. Tickets go on sale October 6.
