Liverpool's Echo Arena launches new music venue Space

As Liverpool’s Echo Arena opens up a new venue called Space, Getintothis‘ David Hall looks at this new room’s potential.

The Echo Arena is set to double its standing capacity, through hosting concerts and other live events in its sister venue, Exhibition Centre Liverpool.

A double-header of Gary Numan on Thursday, July 27 and Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson on Friday, July 28 have already graced the new space.

The Exhibition Centre, which features three halls and has featured various events and functions will in future be transformed into Space by Echo Arena Liverpool with a capacity of up to 7,000 people – almost double the standing capacity at Echo Arena.

“Space by Echo Arena Liverpool is the latest addition to our suite of live event layouts and complements Echo Arena, EchoTwo and The Auditorium Liverpool,” reckons commercial director Ben Williams,

“Using the halls either separately or in combination will enable us to host many more visitors all on one level – we currently host up to 3,600 people on the floor of the arena for gigs but this can now be almost doubled in Space by Echo Arena Liverpool.”

Since opening in 2015, Exhibition Centre Liverpool has been used for large exhibitions such as the vibrant Liverpool leg of MCM Comic Con, and hosted conferences from various industries. It will now be transformed to also enable the space to host even more live events.

Following on from the gigs by electronic pioneer Gary Numan and the much-lauded Brian Wilson Presents Pet Sounds show, the venue will also see comedy legend Peter Kay’s Dance For Life show in March next year.
