Not satisfied with a celebratory release of a live album in May, Rodrigo y Gabriela plan to take their breakthrough album on the road.
Taking a break from writing new material for their next album the worldwide tour, starting in May reaches the London Roundhouse on June 27 and Manchester’s Albert Hall on July 14.
Rodrigo Sánchez and Gabriela Quintero, two Mexicans whose career began in Dublin where their now famous Nuevo flamenco, rock and heavy metal fused style of acoustic instrumental music began.
Their second,self-titled album, released to huge critical acclaim came out in 2006,where it topped the Irish charts ahead of both Johnny Cash and Arctic Monkeys. A remastered version of that album will be released in May to celebrate it’s tenth anniversary in a deluxe format including extra tracks, a CD of a previously unreleased show at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre together with a DVD of that gig,
Having released five studio albums to date, collaborated with Hans Zimmer on the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides soundtrack while also contributing to the soundtrack for the Shrek prequel Puss in Boots and performed at The White House for President Barack Obama in May 2010. These are surely set to be a two phenomenally unforgettable nights.
