With a flurry of hip hop legends set to hit the Baltic this Summer, Getintothis’s Craig MacDonald is read to hit the funk box.
This summer will see an onslaught of hip hop heavyweights head to the Baltic Triangle, with The Sugarhill Gang hitting Hangar 34 on June 8 as part of their vast UK tour.
In what will surely be a rappers delight, the collective will be joined on the night by Grandmaster Melle Mel and Scorpio’s Furious Five, with the two former Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five members completing what is a not to be missed date for all hip hop heads.
The trio of artists have had an unquestionable influence on the hip hop scene, with Sugarhill producing the first Top 40 rap single in the Billboard Top 100 and Melle Mel and Scorpio joining their former band mates in being the first hip hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
As the Baltic continues to cement itself as the place for urban acts to stage their events, we predict this one to be the latest capacity gathering to hit the creative epicenter.
