A night at The Zanzibar filled with alcohol, guitar riffs, and dodgy dance moves, Getintothis’ Lorna Dougherty experiences it all.

Tonight, we feel, was one of those nights where if you came just for the headliner – you most definitely missed out. Long are gone the days where there was a mere one support act, who quite frankly were often a bit shite.

Tonight also proved that order doesn’t necessarily correlate with talent. The Bad Habits, first to perform, epitomise the young and upcoming talent from that our city possesses. Reminding us of The Zutons, in their early stage, they display a lot of potential.

Nyt Club, or Catfish and The Bottlemen? Who knows. They may as well have been a tribute act, and we think it was a mutual thought within the now simmered out crowd. A highlight had to be the lead singer asking the crowd to almost ‘slut drop‘ and get nothing but bamboozled looks, a giggle on our behalf, though.

A gem stone, a dazzling star, a bloody good band – The Little Triggers. If you go on stage dressed in a jazzy neck scarf, with a jazzy patterned shirt topped with a jazzy patterned jacket and Super Noodle hair you are bound to be cool, and they sure as hell didn’t disappoint. This Liverpool foursome armed with an expert keyboard player and a mini Jimi Hendrix are most definitely one to watch.

And last, but not least, the six scouse T-Birds; Red Rum Club. Love them, or hate them, you cannot deny that every show they perform at the crowd adores them. Their songs grab you by the hands and shout ‘dance,’ and without noticing you’re suddenly two stepping with that drunk old fella standing next to you, and singing along to the chorus of some song you hadn’t heard of until a minute ago.

And oh that trumpet solo, like a matured brandy it went down smoothly; please, please, make more use of that trumpet. Together they are something different, and something appreciated by Scousers and music lovers allied.
