With BamBamBam! bringing one of the world’s most exciting live bands to the city, Getintothis’ Shaun Ponsonby looks forward to a very special night.
Japanese death jazz group SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS have added a last minute show at 24 Kitchen St as part of their short UK tour.
Formed in 2001, the band were born out of the Tokyo club scene, releasing their debut album Pimpin’ three years later. However, it was their follow-up Pimp Master that really put them on the map, capturing the intensity of their live performances and gaining international attention.
The band have since released an album almost every year – with the sole exception of 2012 – and constantly play live, becoming a distinctively in-demand cult attraction.
GoGo Penguin talk Blue Note, jazz and musical influences as they prepare for Liverpool Music Week.
At its core, the group is about giving pulsating live performances. SOIL & “PIMP” SESSIONS combine the highest musicianship with the coolest of cool sounds and atmosphere. Their brand of jazz is rough around the edges, and completely unadulterated. There is a feeling that they are always teetering on the edge and fall off at any point.
They are only playing a handful of shows in the UK, and this last minute addition at 24 Kitchen St on Saturday October 15 is bound to be something special.
