As the UK’s festival of music, film and digital gears up for another year, Getintothis‘ David Hall has the lowdown on an impressive lineup.
The Sheffield-based programme promises a wealth of gigs and events across the Steel City, all under the multimedia banner of the city’s Sensoria festival.
Upcoming highlights are numerous, with Wild Beasts, Ex-Easter Island Head, Bill Ryder-Jones, Richard Hawley and John Grant all playing gigs across the week-long listing.
Cumbria’s arty indie outfit Wild Beasts and Liverpool’s ambient maestros Ex-Easter Island Head both released highly-praised albums in the last few months. Bill Ryder-Jones and John Grant are both entering the final phase of tours for their West Kirby County Primary and Grey Tickles, Black Pressure albums respectively. All are certain to deliver Sheffield audiences knockout shows.
Film offerings include Kes and a live soundtracking project to various Georges Méliès films by Yorkshire-based art rock three-piece Stems. 2015’s Sensoria festival featured sets from Asian Dub Foundation, DJ Yoda, Factory Floor and Bo Ningen.

The programme also features SensoriaPro, an informal gathering of composers, filmmakers, music publishers, music supervisors, games developers and festivals all under one roof to discuss the latest innovations. Its lineup of speakers includes lectures on film music, touring and virtual reality.
