The former Throwing Muse, solo performer and acclaimed author announces a Philharmonic Music Room date, Getintothis’ Banjo has the details.
Kristin Hersh is a performer of many talents. First coming to our attention with alt rockers Throwing Muses in the 1990s, Hersh has ploughed a defiantly individual furrow ever since, and now announces a Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room date on November 19.
Releasing ten albums with Throwing Muses, five with noisy power trio 50FOOTWAVE featuring Muses drummer Rob Ahlers plus her solo records totals an incredible twenty albums’ worth of Kristin Hersh material.
Liverpool’s Philharmonic Music Room also hosts Steve Gunn this autumn
Alongside this incredible body of musical work, she has also found the time to write the incredibly moving Rat Girl autobiography along with a further four books. Rat Girl comes highly recommended, detailing Hersh‘s battle with mental health with a refreshing lack of self pity, celebrity titillation or even sensationalism. The descriptions of a year in Hersh‘s life are engaging and warm, much like the author herself.
Hersh‘s previous solo effort was 2010’s self-produced, self-released book-come-album Crooked, but an announcement is yet to be made as to whether the tour will be accompanied with a new solo album. We have already heard new music from 50FOOTWAVE this year in Bath White.
Kristin Hersh plays the Philharmonic Music Room, on Saturday, November 19, doors 7pm.
