Sisters Lizzy and Catherine Ward Thomas to bring some country music to the Arts Club, Getintothis’ Amaan Khan provides the details.
Country has rarely been the biggest musical export in this part of the world.
Even Fleetwood Mac‘s country-rock was sold as the blues until its line-up reformed into the soft-rock of a largely American dominated affair. So when the duo Ward Thomas climbed fame’s ladder, it was hardlysurprising that someone even called them “Britain’s first country stars“.
Ward Thomas is a band formed of young twin sisters Lizzy and Catherine who grew up in rural Hampshire. The sisters released their debut album From Where We Stand in 2014 which sold more than 25,000 copies in UK and earned them slots at notable events like Hyde Park Festival.
Having recently released the single Carry You Home, the duo will also release their second album, Cartwheels as well as embarking on a tour UK this autumn.
The tour stops by Liverpool’s Arts Club on October 16, treating the city with some Taylor Swift and Fleetwood Mac inspired British country music.
