New Jersey residents Pinegrove have picked Liverpool’s intimate Studio 2 venue to end their anticipated tour, as Getintothis’ Rob Aston reports.
Country meets indie rock on their latest new album Cardinal, in which frontman Evan Stephens Hall has exampled his previous talents from several EPs last year.
The raw sound of the band on tracks such as Old Friends correlates beautifully with the venue, presenting an opportunity to feel the vibes of a New Jersey basement in the heart of Liverpool.
Old Friends being a clear rose within the grove; the introduction of banjos alongside your standard band creates a refreshing tale of growing up through adulthood.
Emotive lyrics create a relaxing tone in which Hall rips your heart in-and-out pulling on heart strings you thought you’d forgotten about in all the right ways.
For only £7.50 a ticket, the potential and the intimacy of Studio 2 should do more than enough to tempt the curiosity of many to send them on their way back across the pond.
Pinegrove tour dates:
September 5: Gullivers, Manchester
September 6: Brudenell Social, Leeds
September 8: Think Tank, Newcastle
October 4: Studio 2, Liverpool
Pinegrove play Studio 2, Liverpool on October 4
