The Coral headline Sound City on Sunday night
Sound City takes place over the Bank Holiday weekend, Getintothis’ Cath Bore looks ahead to the festival’s highlights.
The three day event kicks off this morning with Sound City+, talks and panels covering major aspects of the music industry. It includes Creation Records founder Alan McGee detailing his Musicians Against Homelessness initiative, and Drowned in Sound investigating how musicians can succeed via the DIY route. Sound City+ explores fan culture as well, with Dr Jennifer Otter Bickerdike on how the death of an artist like Prince affects our lives.
The main Sound City music event is on Saturday and Sunday. Getintothis will be reporting on the very best new music performances, as well as GIT Award 2016 winner Bill Ryder-Jones, The Coral, Leftfield, Catfish and the Bottlemen, and Young Fathers.
