As the free event returns for 2016, Getintothis’ Jake Marley gets the lowdown on the exciting first wave of acts.
Liverpool Smithdown Road Festival has announced the first wave of acts for its 2016 event, taking place across the weekend of April 30 to May 2. Over 120 acts will grace the festival, playing across 8 different city stages, centered around Smithdown Road.
Skeleton Key Records big-hitters The Sundowners lead the announcement. The wirral fivesome who also support The Coral on their UK Tour this Spring, will play the festival’s ‘mystery’ main stage alongside lashes of future-pop perfection from Liverpool’s own Natalie McCool.
Popular anti-establishment folkstar Beans On Toast, Tony Wright, frontman of 90s Brit-rock group Terrorvision and Mike Badger, founding member of legendary Liverpool band The La’s will also grace the main stage across the weekend.
The Smithdown Road Fest is far from the only North West festival this year. Check out our in-depth Festival Guide for all the others!
Manchester’s fast rising DIY grunge-poppers False Advertising and Domino Records gems We Are Catchers also join the lineup as do Liverpool’s psych enthused quintet Indigo Moon, hypnotising trio Bathymetry and shape-shifting trancers The Floormen.
