Now six albums deep, Lindi Ortega is all set to wow East Village Arts Club early in 2016 as part of her UK tour. Getintothis’ Lily Corke Butters predicts a poignant, country-tinged evening.
Canadian singer-songwriter Lindi Ortega returns to Liverpool in January to perform what will undoubtedly be an intimate and moving show.
Described as “Toronto’s best kept secret”, Ortega delivers soul, style and a dark air of sophistication, complimented by her signature look of a black hat and veil. Her sets range from powerfully downbeat numbers radiating sincerity, to livelier, upbeat tunes about her Little Red Boots, for example. Her quirky lyrics are whip-smart, often challenging misconceptions.

Ortega‘s vocal vibrato has been compared to that of Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline, and her style to that of Johnny Cash. Vulnerable, brutally honest and purely passionate are just a handful of superlatives that could be employed to describe her rich sound.
Ortega has toured extensively with Brandon Flowers of The Killers, and August 2015 saw the release of Faded Gloryville – her 6th album in 15 years – so she is no stranger to the music business.
The night is sure to be filled with aching melodies, mixed in with the usual twang of good ol’ country. So why not ‘get on down’ to the Arts Club on January 29 to see an artist in Lindi Ortega who is wonderfully nostalgic yet still contemporary and current.
