With Pontefract rockers Glass Caves gearing up for their second album, Getintothis Craig MacDonald exults in their upcoming Studio 2 show.
The anthemic passion of Glass Caves returns to Liverpool later this year when the Yorkshire quartet hit up Studio 2 on November 19. Having released their acclaimed debut album Alive last year to tremendous reviews, the group will return to the city having expanded upon their rapturous Sound City set in no doubt another night that will get you rocking. Glass Caves have a relentless energy that they transfer from the studio to the stage effortlessly.
A diligent work ethic has seen them hone their skills to great affect. On Alive, they are able to merge together addictive lyrics with biting guitars to create songs that not only stick with you but make you crave more. From the ramshackle of thunderous guitars on Tonight and pounding beats of Let Go the four piece have created a debut to be proud of; subtle yet gargantuan in equal measure.
At times Glass Caves can be commanding with their vocal dexterity. In Match they produce a profound soundscape in a similar way that Temper Trap or The XX makes you attentive to each note they produce. Those fortunate enough to head down to Studio 2 in November will also be able to enjoy a first rate supporting bill too as the ever-impressive sounds of Natalie McCool takes to the stage as well as the funk loving Spares and young upstarts The Voids in a night of audio delights.
