With a new video and EP just released, Getintothis’ Adam Lowerson looks ahead to Beak>’s upcoming Kazimier show.
Beak>, a side project of Geoff Barrow of Portishead, have announced a gig at the Kazimier on September 3 with Club EVOL. The date follows the release of the band’s new Beak/Kaeb Split EP, which was released this week on Invada Records.
Alongside the EP, Beak> have revealed the video for track The Broken Window, which was produced by Tia Salisbury and features Marc Bessant, and is available to watch below. The video, which is the final of four accompanying tracks from the EP, is described by the band as acting as the first part to previous video for The Meader, and helps to explain “the sinister and peculiar proceedings” that it involves.
The Split EP, is a four track double b-side 12″, and sees the band splitting duties with their alter egos Kaeb, with side one featuring two gothic, krautrock style tracks by Beak> while the reverse includes two more folk inspired songs by Kaeb. The EP is available now via the band’s Bandcamp page, but will have it’s full release on July 31.
2015 is set to be a busy one for the Bristol trio, with them having recently completed the score for upcoming psychological drama film Couple in a Hole, which is set to be released later this year.
Beak>, who are made up of the aforementioned Geoff Barrow, Fuzz Against Junk’s Billy Fuller and Team Brick’s Matt Williams, were formed in 2009, and released their self titled debut album in November of that year. They released their second LP >> in 2012.
Tickets for their Kazimier show on September 3 are available now online and via Probe Records.
