Liverpool Sound City has announced its final wave of acts joining headliners Belle & Sebastian, The Flaming Lips and The Vaccines, Getintothis’ Adam Lowerson has all the details.
Liverpool Sound City has announced the final wave of bands and artists to play the May festival, including punk rockers the Membranes, lo-fi poppers Gengahr and Warp Records’ Lonelady.
The new wave of acts will join headliners Belle and Sebastian, the Flaming Lips and the Vaccines at the docklands festival, which takes place between 22-24 May.
Also announced are the Radio 1 hyped the Mispers, Spring King, Findlay, Tei Shi, Remi, God Damn, Hidden Charms, Sundara Karma, Vaults, Pixel Fix, Femme, Raglans, Tor Miller, Fossa, Holy Holy and Zefur Wolves.
Joining the bill of national and international talent are several rising Merseyside acts including GIT Award nominees Hooton Tennis Club, Silent Sleep, LIVES, Ady Suleiman, Jennifer Davies, Johnny Sands and Sankofa.
The festival has also announced the details of four new stages including The North Stage, The Cavern Stage, The Kraken Stage and The Record Store, all of which will feature hundreds of rising and unsigned acts.
Speaking on the full line up, Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi, said: “This year’s line-up is the widest it has ever been. We had band and artists applications in the thousands from over 25 different worldwide countries.
“It demonstrates how in just eight short years Sound City has become the ‘must play’ event for the best new music from around the globe.
“But Sound City is not just about the live bill. This year is going to be a true spectacle, a carnival of music and art across a wide spectrum, a living, breathing thrilling theme park of an event set in our stunning new industrial dockland playground. This year will eclipse everything that came before and cement Sound City as one of the most unique festivals in the world.”
Also new to this year’s festival is Tim Peaks Diner – hosted by Charlatans singer Tim Burgess with exclusive appearances from Taffy and Hot Vestry plus DJ sets from Dave Haslam among others.
