Spinning a spell to enchant willing clubbers, Getintothis’ Gaz Jones experiences the fresh breeze conjured by Le Youth promising to refresh the current DJ stereotype.
What do you expect when you go to see a DJ live? Playing with the decks? The modern version of hitting keys on a Mac? The occasional gesture towards the crowd? Be honest.
Le Youth live at The Korova
If you have these expectations when you go to see rising 19-year-old, Le Youth be prepared to have them shattered. We got the fast, upbeat, hard hitting tracks such as Dance With Me and Cool. But the manner in which Wes James delivered them was superb. Inviting the crowd on stage, dancing in audience and taking time to pose for photos enriched a fun and personal show. That he too was clearly buzzing only served to add to an enthralling show.
Le Youth live at The Korova
While he may lack the textured innovativeness of some of his contemporaries nor was it the most technically impressive or scattered with a catalogue of hits – but for sheer fun-factor – Le Youth ticked all the right boxes. Hats off.
