Aintree bosses team up with Getintothis to host new music talent at Grand National.
When Getintothis teamed up with organisers of the Grand National in 2013 to host new Merseyside talent at their three-day festival at Aintree it worked a treat. So we’re doing it all again this year.
Once again we’re looking for the top new music talent from across Merseyside to perform at the world-famous Crabbie’s Grand National on April 5.
Emerging acts from across the region can be nominated to perform in one of three slots as part of the live music offering at the three-day festival.
The lucky chosen acts will get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play in front of tens of thousands of race-goers at Aintree Racecourse on April 5.
Selected musicians will appear on a bill which includes chart-topping pop artist Katy B and Saturday headline act the 2014 GIT Award shortlisted Tea Street Band.
They will be following in the footsteps of local talent such as Stealing Sheep and Esco Williams, both previous winners of the competition.
Artists will be selected by Getintothis editor Peter Guy and Yaw Owusu – curator of the Liverpool International Music Festival and programmer for live music at the Crabbie’s Grand National.
Nominations are now open for bands and solo artists but performers must be aged 16 and above. Of the three acts to be selected, one will perform a live 15-minute band set inside the Equestrian Centre during the Made in Merseyside concert on Saturday.
This is the second consecutive year the National has teamed up with Getintothis to host the stage featuring new Merseyside talent – with Natalie McCool, Silent Sleep, Dominic Dunn and Ukebox all playing in 2013.
The other two will play either a 15 minute or 10 minute set on the Steeple chase Acoustic Stage, also on Saturday. Jockey Club North West Regional Director John Baker said: “After last year’s success, The Crabbie’s Grand National is excited to be teaming up once again with Peter Guy and Getintothis to showcase the ongoing musical talent that the region has to offer.
“It’s a great chance for local bands and solo artists to make their name known on a global platform and perform to thousands of people. Here at Aintree Racecourse we love staging this fantastic sporting event alongside incredible live music acts.”
To enter, email the name of your act to [email protected] or tweet @Getintothis with #Aintreemusic followed by the artist’s name and a link to their website.
Applications close at midnight on Monday, March 17 and the winners will be announced on Friday, March 28.
Entrants must be available to perform at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday, April 5.
