Kasst returns with self-produced blast of primal ferocity.
Liverpool’s raw hip hop scene can be defined by lots of hussle but little coherency. Plenty of graft but nowhere near enough quality.
One dependent figure in this disparate mess of jokers and chancers is 16-year-old Isaac ‘Kasst’ Hill who made his mark 18 months ago with a brace of big hitters which showcased not just his instinctive verve for lyrical might but his ear for a stomach-busting beat.
Having headed up a collective of MCs while playing two Sound City gigs in 2012, he wisely took time out (school) before lending his vocal skills on a variety of guest slots both in his Merseyside heartland and for other raps crews across the country.
Now he’s back, insistent on showing his own production skills too, with Dark Goon featuring fellow Merseysider C-Two, aka Connor Cuttress.
It’s another primal slice of grime ferocity packing a clinical fist to the cerebral cortex.
