Hookworms unveil their new video directed by Liverpool artist Sam Wiehl.
Hookworms have developed something of a special relationship with Merseyside.
First they blew us out the water with a stunning set supporting Moon Duo at the Kazimier last summer. They quickly followed that up with a whacked out slice of aural nirvana at the inaugural Liverpool Psych Fest.
Then, having dropped Pearl Mystic – probably the finest UK debut we’ve heard in years – they swung by Liverpool once again to play a barnstormer at Blade Factory.
It appears our love of all things ‘Worms isn’t lost on the Leeds outfit, as they’ve teamed up with Liverpool artist Sam Wiehl – he of Behind The Wall Of Sleep, Mugstar imagery/lighting, Liverpool Psych Fest graphics, impressive beard, complete dude – to direct their video for Away / Towards tying in with the Weird World re-release of Pearl Mystic on September 2.
Shot by Simon Lucas and Iain Cash under the direction of Wiehl, the video features an ensemble of familiar Liverpool folk moodily posturing in a moody wood as moody lights fizz around moodily.
It is quite moody indeed. Check it out below, and buy Pearl Mystic because it is a complete beast.
