Following their baaa-rnstorming display at the GIT Award 2012, Stealing Sheep talk to Getintothis ahead of their summer tour and that eagerly-anticipated debut album, Into the Diamond Sun, for Heavenly Records.
To say, Stealing Sheep have come on leaps and bounds over the last 12 months would be an understatement.
We’ve followed their progress from new girls on the block to one of the scenes leaders – but their recent outing in Manchester’s Ruby Lounge, quickly followed by a top class showing at Leaf at last Friday’s GIT Award cemented their reputation as one’s to watch.
Post-event, many people have said to Getintothis that they expected them to win the first prize – but who knows, with a debut record for Heavenly set for release this summer – who’s to say they won’t be leading the flock next year.
Dispensing with the puns, here’s Rebecca Hawley with her take on the first GIT Award.
Rebecca of Stealing Sheep at the GIT Award 2012
Getintothis: What did you make of the GIT Award 2012?
Rebecca Hawley: ‘We really enjoyed the event and the excitement around it regionally and even nationally.
‘It was good to see some amazing artists play and was very enjoyable to be part of it!’
Getintothis: What message did you think the GIT Award sent out?
Rebecca Hawley: ‘I think it let people outside of Liverpool know what kind of diversity the city has to offer and was a good opportunity for locals to see what new talent is around right now.’
Getintothis: What were your highlights from the GIT Award 2012?
Rebecca Hawley: ‘Jack Whiteley‘s Kazimier montage video.
‘It kept everyone in the room transfixed for 20 minutes and was a really amazing window into Liverpool’s best club night.’

Getintothis: Thank you so much for your music and good luck for the future – what’s next for you?
Rebecca Hawley: ‘In the short term we’re off to Paris next week. Then we’re playing a headline tour in Europe in May and in the Uk in June.
‘We’re bringing out our debut album Into the Diamond Sun in August. You can also catch us at Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Simple Things, Camden Crawl, Green Man Festival, In the Woods, Beatherder and Liverpool Sound City.’
