Doom metal legend Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich rolls into Liverpool with his Premonition 13 outfit and Getintothis has a pair of passes to be won. Oh, and it’s Ozzy’s birthday so there’s a heavy metal disco too. Gnarly, indeed.
You either love metal or you don’t. There’s really little point dithering in the middle ground.
And for hardcore enthusiasts there’s fewer more legendary in the black metal, doom stakes than Scott ‘Wino’ Weinrich.
His musical exploits are the stuff of gnarly mythology; best known for being the frontman and guitarist of the doom metal warlords The Obsessed and Saint Vitus.
Not to mention stints in Spirit Caravan, The Hidden Hand and more recently Getintothis faves Shrinebuilder.
Now he’s landing in Liverpool’s Blade Factory (the old A Foundation on Greenland Street), with his full-band – their only date in the north of England – on Saturday (December 3) showcasing new swag from his Premonition 13 project.
Musically, Wino cites Black Sabbath, King Crimson and his previous conspiracy-minded band The Hidden Hand as reference points for Premonition 13.
And what started as a series of informal jams with guitarist Brian McKinley has seen the band expand to a full meaty outfit, treading paths old and new while making generous use of the E-Bow for those all-important electromagnetic field pulses.
Support on the night comes from Bow & Arrow, a heavy instrumental wall of sound, listen here and Liverpool doom metallers, Black Magician.
The Behind the Wall of Sleep guys added: ‘We got the place ’til late so we will be blasting some records and heavy jams all through the night at the HEAVY METAL DISCO – plus its Ozzy Osbourne‘s birthday!‘
In celebration of such a night of darkness, Getintothis has a pair of guestlist passes to give away, to win, add us on Twitter and answer the following question and add hash tag #Wino
