Master tactician, genius musician, production magician, movie maker, hipster baker, prankster rapper and a very dapper gentlemen, one of the originals Mr. Chilly Gonzales plays in Liverpool next Wednesday – and Getintothis has a pair of guestlist passes to be won.
Jason Beck, aka Chilly Gonzales, isn’t so much famous, simply infamous. An enigma to some, anonymous to many. It’s simply what he wishes. But an indisputable talent all the same.
So when Evol announced at the back end of last year they’d collared him for a special one-off showing, those in the know were quick to prick up their ears.
If you’re already familiar with his talent then you’ve probably boxed off a seat for next Wednesday’s Capstone Theatre gig and special screening of his movie Ivory Tower.
If you haven’t, then consider Getintothis‘ competition of two guestlist tickets as the perfect introduction.
Scroll down to the end of this post for the competition, but if you need anymore convincing, here’s Evol‘s Steve Miller on the mysterious inspiration, that is Chilly Gonzales…
‘When we started Evol years back there were a few underground artists that influenced everything we did, Peaches, Soulwax, Ladytron, Vitalic, LCD Soundsystem and Chilly.
‘At the time it was his Entertainist album that was doing the business from Kitty Yo records in Berlin, but Chilly had already been a seasoned player in the game and continued to do so, working behind the scenes, shaping careers, hanging in the shadows and occasionally stepping out for brief moments in the limelight before retreating once more to focus on new styles. The ebb & flow of genius.
‘2010 has been a big year for Chilly. His self released seventh studio album, produced by Boys Noize, Ivory Tower has earned critical acclaim from across the music press to the broadsheets. Everyone it seems has been waiting for this sleeping giant to wake.
‘But the album is only part of the deal, there’s a movie too, which we will be exclusively screened pre show, starring Chilly and longtime cohorts Peaches and Tiga, it’s not chequers, it’s chess. Masterful. And let’s not forgot how he ground out the hours to take a Guinness world record for continuous playing in Paris – 2011 awaits…
So, enough of the rhetoric, to win tickets for Wednesday’s gig and film screening add Getintothis on Twitter and tell us who beat Chile in the second round of the 2010 World Cup.
