Yup you read correctly, Edinburgh’s twee-pop cult icons Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee are set to bring The Vaselines to Liverpool in September.
Belle & Sebastian, Mudhoney and just about every lo-fi pop band since the late 80s has cited Scotland’s The Vaselines as a key influence.
Having been covered extensively since their split in 1990, most notably on Nirvana‘s Incesticide, the band regrouped in 2006 with a spate of low key gigs including last year’s Latitude Festival.
Now they’re headed for Liverpool after the city’s Wingwalker promotions team lines up a gig at Static Gallery on Saturday September 18.
