Hold on to your hats, the Liverpool music event of 2008 is on its way.

FIVE months in and Liverpool has thus far resoundingly failed to bring the party in it’s Capital of Culture celebrations.
‘What about Ringo, and his shiny bacofoil coat?‘ I hear you cry!
Yeah…
But wait, all that’s about to change at the end of May when a three-day aural explosion takes to 30 venues across the City guaranteed to suitably quench the thirst of any right-minded music fan.
The inaugual Liverpool Sound City music festival kicks off on Tuesday May 27 culminating in a closing bash on May 30 as Chibuku hosts a Felix Da Housecat-headlining performance at Nation.
Endorsed and inspired by hip US festival South By South West, Sound City shares a similar feel with it’s Texas-equivalent with a roster of artists to die for spread across every music hub the City has to offer.
Among the hotspots to check out are Carling Academy, which sees the influencial Domino Records, home to the Arctic Monkeys, host their own showcase night featuring Sons & Daughters, Lightspeed Champion, Wild Beasts and Liverpool’s once-to-watch Eugene McGuinness.
Two of Liverpool’s best club’s Barfly and Zanzibar, feature big up-and-coming stars in the shape of The Mystery Jets and Laura Marling, respectively. With intriguing support from electronic-folk pioneer Adem and NME Award winners Glasvegas.
Perhaps the hippest night of the festival takes shape on Thursday May 29 when New Yorkers Hercules and the Love Affair headline Barfly with electro stars Four Tet and Germany’s The Field supporting.
If bright lights and nu-rave is more your scene join Liverpool clubnight host’s Evol as Hadouken, Does It Offend You Yeah?, XX Teens and The Ghost Frequency feature at Carling Academy 1.
Meanwhile for novelty value alone The Whip will take their brand of electro to the unusual setting of Alma De Cuba (May 27) which is certainly worth a peek.
Not to be out done Korova has selected some choice movers in the shape of Liverpool’s a.P.A.t.T., hardcore math-rockers Rolo Tomassi and indie duo iwasacubscout.
Finally, the hipster’s label of choice Moshi Moshi celebrate their 10th Birthday at Zanzibar with Merseysiders Hot Club de Paris and Elle S’appelle featuring.
