As Liverpool Calling returns for its fourth consecutive year Getintothis’ Jake Marley has the scoop on the first wave of artists playing the festival.

Liverpool Calling have announced the first wave of artists for their new festival home this July. The 2015 festival was held at the cities picturesque Bombed Out Church and surrounding intimate locations but due to renevation works the 2016 event will move to a temporary new home at Camp & Furnace, as well as hosting a stage at the Blade Factory.

The one-day event will be co-headlined by Spector and Coasts. Indie darlings Spector return to Liverpool fully charged with a Sound City Festival set and new album Moth Boys under their belt, whilst Bristol lads Coasts return to the city for the first time since their debut album was released, having previously played Arts Club in 2014.

In addition The Family Rain will headline the Blade Factory stage on July 9th. Bath’s well loved blues-rockers have been hard at work recording their 2nd album and will surely bring hints of its progress along with them.

Liverpool Calling wouldn’t be Liverpool Calling without its mix of local talent and quirky picks to stock up the bill however. Those spots so far go to hotly tipped Aussie band Tired Lion, in-demand festival favourites The Jackobins, Psych-folk group The Wicked Whispers, the frenetic Elevant, indie-darlings The Mono LPs and BBC Introducing championed starlets Peaness.
