Minimalist Liverpool quintet Tear Talk hook up with By The Sea for new track, Getintothis’ Lauren Jones is left in ruins… Sorry, we just couldn’t resist.
Tear Talk are back with Ruins, their third studio release since 2011, out on 1 December via fellow Merseyside outfit, By The Sea‘s War Room Records.
Having spent six months in the studio with By The Sea‘s Daniel O’Connell and Joe Edwards, the band have unveiled the first fruits, Realise, a mind-altering track with a body of great mystery.
An introduction similar to that of a funeral pyre’s ungodly flames there is an exposure to a slowing rumble of downcast guitars matched with gloomy claps, painfully anaesthetised by an ethereal coo of unequivocal madness.
Opening with shoegaze inclinations and roughly poised beats emanating progressively, not too fast – yet not too slow, we are pushed further within a hallucinatory coma.
Influences such as Joy Division and Suicide do have minor spurts throughout, yet we see a more mature Tear Talk than before, they’ve found their feet, using emotionless bouts of gracious vocality and genius instrumentality. Let us rejoice, as yes, Tear Talk are back – and back with a gentle bang.
Tear Talk play Sebright Arms in London on November 15 and Gullivers in Manchester on November 28.
